By Ramon Gomez, Jr.

ImageSummer is here and Park City has fun and philanthropy for the entire family. The Park Record newspaper shares all the activities going on in and around Park City and the many volunteer opportunities available. The Wife and I love to participate with and donate to many organizations. I have had the privilege for the past 4 years of being a part of the Park City Board of Realtors' Philanthropic Committee. This is very rewarding as we spread the $1,000's and $1,000's of dollars that Realtors in Park City donate. This year we had the privilege to be a part of $20,000 in scholarships awarded to students at Park City High School, South Summit High School, North Summit High School and Wasatch High School. The Park Record shared -  Lea, president of the philanthropic committee, called the scholarships the focal point of the foundation. Gomez, the group's treasurer, said it is "the most rewarding thing we do." To read the article in its entirety - click here.

Park City is a town for those who love the outdoors and adventure, and during the snow months we have more than just the mountains to play on. StayParkCity posted 10 Winter Activities That Don't Require Skis as hiking, bowling and spa treatments are just the tip of the iceberg, and SKIMAG.com has put together a Guide to Park City's Best Shopping as there is always something for everyone. Utah is a great place for ski resorts (14 world-class ski resorts) and boasts the largest resort in the U.S., scores the country's most consistent snowfall, but did you know that one Utah resort has the nicest ski bathrooms anywhere? - Ski Utah shares 14 Reasons to Ski Utah.

Park City Mountain Resort has seen 17 inches of snow in the last 48 hours  adding some much appreciated powder to our favorite slopes. I made it up the other day and took my snowboard from the Canyons Village to Downtown Park City and rode the new lift back to take in the incredible view. S Media Snowports Culture posted a great episode about Park City skiing and the fact that flying into Salt Lake City gives visitors and residents alike access to 11 of the 14 ski resort within an hours drive.

If you have time to give back this weekend, Operation Smile will be in Park City and locals and celebrities will be out raising awareness and funds for a great cause. Operation Smile started in 1982 and has provided surgeries for hundreds of thousands of kids in more than 60 countries. For more information, visit operationsmile.org.

With Spring around the corner, some of our friends were just telling us about Via Ferrate - a climbing adventure will be added to our list for warm weather activities. The Utah Adventure Center offers Via Ferrate: Guided Cable Assisted Climbing. Via Ferrata (Italian for "iron road") is a mountain-climbing method that lets less experienced climbers enjoy the adrenaline rush and spectacular scenery usually reserved for elite climbers. The "iron road" is now available in Utah with the Waterfall Canyon Via Ferrata.

One of my favorite charity events of the year is the annual Shop With A Cop program here in Park City. Each year law enforcement from Park City and the surrounding areas join this great event to holiday shop with children from our area. This year we had about 50 officers from eight different branches of law enforcement shop with over 75 children from the three school districts in Summit County.

I am very proud to be a part of the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Utah Properties real estate agency in Park City as we raised $7,500.00 for this event. We had over 60 of our local agents donate money to this great event and 24 agents and office staffers volunteer Saturday morning to wrap gifts for the children. My wife and I look forward to another great year of being involved With Shop With A Cop and wish you all a merry holiday season.

Kevin Murray, took pictures of the event and made a YouTube video of our great morning.
