Bike Month in Park City

By Ramon Gomez, Jr.
May 09, 2018

May is national bike month – which means plenty of opportunities to get out and ride. Ben Ramsey from the Park Record has the latest updates in his article for this two wheeled month. According to the latest Mountain Trails report, Round Valley was "Trailiriffic" last weekend. Charlie Sturgis, executive director of the Mountain Trails Foundation, added that, because the town is experiencing a pronounced shoulder season after a dry winter, it's a great to get out and enjoy the trail system while it's still uncrowded.

There are also a handful of social events to celebrate bike month, starting with the Young Riders Bike Swap on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which will provide riders a chance to sell and buy bikes and equipment while raising money for the Young Riders, a youth mountain biking program. The swap is at The Yard Event Space – so swappers can enjoy a frosty adult beverage while checking out the selections.

The Summit Bike Share is now active until the next winter. On May 15-16, Park City will celebrate Bike Share Fare Free Day – a joint effort between electric bike service Bewegen, Summit County, the Park City Chamber of Commerce and Park City. The promotion allows riders to stop in at any of the nine bike share stations around the greater Park City area and take a free 45-minute ride. On May 18, the greater Park City area will celebrate Bike to Work, School and Play Day, when the city and other local organizations will support Park City citizens in embracing pedal power. The Park City High School parking lot will serve as the event's main hub, where there will be breakfast, bike tune-ups, a bike wash and information on bike safety between 7:30 and 10 a.m.

For cyclists that will not be able to make the Young Riders Bike Swap, there's always May 19 and 20, when Cole Sport will host a bike swap to benefit the Mountain Trails Foundation. Like the Young Riders swap, all kinds of bikes for all ages are welcome and available. And on May 23, the Mountain Trails Foundation will finish the month with the Mountain Madness Open House, where members of the organization present plans for the season.

While you are out riding your bike you can think about the inaugural Deer Valley Concert Series, presented by Deer Valley Resort in conjunction with The State Room Presents, will begin on August 2 with a performance by The Decemberists and conclude on Labor Day, September 3 with Jason Mraz. The series will feature five shows this summer at the resort’s renowned Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.

Warm weather is back in Park City after 15 inches of snow from our most recent storm and the Spring skiing is better than ever. Our Licensed Assistant gets up really early each morning for running and workout classes and shared this photo with us on her way home from the Beau Collective yesterday.

On a side note, our fair town is back in the news as Park City, Utah was named #3 on Conde Nast's list of 15 best small cities in the U.S.

There are 11 days left to hit the slopes at both Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort, but no need to worry as the Spring Outdoor lineups are starting to come out for both resorts.

The 2016 Deer Valley Music Fest Lineup has been announced and the Utah Symphony/Utah Opera has announced its first batch of concerts for the 2016 Deer Valley® Music Festival in Park City, Utah. Highlights of the six-week music festival, which begins on July 2, 2016 and runs through August 6, 2016, include Utah Symphony performances with high-energy, new wave rock band, The B-52s; Matthew Morrison, who starred as teacher Will Schuster on TV’s “Glee”; DreamWorks Animation in Concert with scenes from favorite movies including “Home,” “Shrek,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Kung Fu Panda,” “Madagascar;” a tribute to the music of late rock legend David Bowie, and violinist Robert McDuffie performing Philip Glass’ The American Four Seasons.

Check out our blog next week for more activities and lineups in the Park City area and have a great week. www.realtorramoninparkcity.com

Spring is Here

By Ramon Gomez, Jr.

Spring is here in Park City and in the last few days we have seen 60 degrees and sunny and under 30 degrees with blustering snow. The latest storm brought close to nine inches of snow to the mountain resorts and more reason to hit the slopes before both Deer Valley  and Park City Mountain Resort close their skiing on April 10th.

Organic Spa Magazine reminded us that as the skiing wraps up the spa treatments in Park City get better with services at Montage Deer Valley and such treatments as the Apre``s Ski Soak & Muscle therapy and the Ski Boot relief to revive achy legs and feet. If you head towards Canyons Village Park City Mountain Resort you will find Serenity Spa at Westgate with 30,000 square feet of relaxation, complete with 14 treatment rooms, a tranquil spa with waterfall and magnificent amenities. Serenity Spa captured the prestigious Best of State Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015 for "Best Destination Spa."

On your way to the spa after a day of skiing you may pass a four legged furry friend on the mountain. Most visitors to Park City comment during their stay that there are great dog parks and amazing amenities for our four legged friends. Interesting stat - there are more dog licenses in this fair town than full time residents - and on that note we wanted to share a little bit about a dog named Rogue. Ski Utah recently posted  Utah's Cutest Resort Professionals and featured Rogue who was awarded Puppy Weekly’s cutest dog of the month December, 2016 and the cutest dog in all the United States, making her the perfect ambassador for Park City Mountain Resort.

Aside from cute puppies, spa treatments and skiing - here are a few activities in Park City for the rest of this week:

March 23-27 Spring Gruv at Park City Mountain Resort

March 23-24 Kimball Art Center - Illuminations of Africa's Wildlife

Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays Ritual Chocolate Factory Tours

March 24-April 15 Park City Food Tours

March 25-27 Park City Film Series - The Lady in the Van

March 26 - April 2 Fox School of Wine Weekend Wine Series
